I’ve been asked quite a bit, especially when I used to work for the makeup department, as to what my favorite makeup brushes were and what are essentials tools to use for everyday makeup so I thought, why not post some of my favorite brushes and tools here? I use all of these items for everyday makeup looks and not just for photoshoots or special occasions. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t use ALL of these at once obviously, and I have more brushes and such in my makeup cart, but these are the brushes and tools that I use the most that work the best for me.
As far as brands go, there are many makeup brands that produce and sell brushes, sponges, etc., but these are the brands that I happen to really like that are also affordable. If another brand works for use, by all means use it. Hope these suggestions help you decide what to include in your makeup collection and what essentials you should have in your arsenal.
One Disclaimer: I love the Morphe brushes, not because they are trendy and a lot of youtube beauty gurus use them. I truly love how blendable they are and help you apply your makeup flawlessly. Their prices are right also and can be bought online at Morphebrushes.com as well as their stores.
FOR THE FACE:
Original Beauty Blender- By now pretty much everyone has heard of and tried the beauty blender and there is a reason for that. It helps your foundation go on flawlessly. The beauty blender sponges are a lot different than sponges you find at the drug store even though the cheaper ones are marketed to look like the original ones. Honestly in the long run, it’s better to pay the twenty dollars for the actual original beauty blender that will work better and last longer than the cheap knock off drug store sponges that don’t really work and make your foundation come out blotchy.
The only other makeup sponge that works well besides the beauty blender is the orange Real Techniques Sponge which you can get at Target and some of the drug stores but it’s not cheaply made like the drugstore brand sponges and works very well at applying your foundation beautifully.
Another essential tool to have in your makeup collection is a powder puff. You can get them pretty much anywhere and they are super cheap. They are perfect for blotting any excess oily or shine you make have during the day. They are easy to throw into your bag for quick touch ups.

Big fluffy Powder Puff Brushes- A large fluffy powder puff brush is an essential in doing makeup. You can basically use whatever brand you want for this type of brush. It just depends on your preference, if you want it firm or soft, etc. This brush is good for your powders such as concealing powder, setting powder, and blush. I found my beautiful purple and rose gold brush online and my larger one is from the brand, Matto.
Kabuki Brush- I love kabuki brushes because the way the bristles are formed allow the brush to hold more of your product which is great because you end up having to use less. The best kabuki brush I’ve used is the one from Bare Minerals. I use it for my powder foundation such as my Bare Minerals and MAC studio fix. The bare minerals kabuki will last you forever also.
Morphe M510 brush- Great for highlighting!
Eco Tools Highlighting Fan Brush- I love the brand eco tools and you can find them at target and drug stores.

Morphe tall blending brush M441
Morphe M443 shadow blending brush
Morphe Silver G26 shadow brush
Eco Tools Angled Shadow Brush- Perfect for adding crease colors
Shiseido Eyelash Curler- This is the best lash curler I’ve ever used! It is a little more pricey than curlers at the drugstore because it’s from Shiseido but it’s not crazy expensive it will last a long time and the refills barely cost anything.
This is such a good post and you are so pretty! Btw I’m new to blogging and I’d really appreciate if you’d check out my blog, much love xx
