Trixie Mattel’s “Oh Honey” Sugarpill Collection

Well Sugarpill has done it again. They’ve come out with a new makeup line that I was incredibly excited to get and when I did, it was fabulous! Yes I’m talking about Sugarpill’s “Oh Honey” palette created by one of my all-time favorite drag queens and talented singer/songwriter, Trixie Mattel.

You all know that I have loved Sugarpill for a long time, but one of the reasons why I do, which you may not know, is because of all the love and support they give drag queens and the LGBTAQ community. When I was at DragCon this year, I knew they would be one of the top booths I would see. They appreciate the beautiful art of drag and have worked with some of the fiercest queens besides Trixie such as Kim Chi, Ongina, and Laganga Estranja just to name a few. If you check out Sugarpill’s youtube channel, you can see tutorials that some of the queens have done which is very cool. Also if you have never seen any of of Trixie’s shows or don’t know anything about her, stop reading this right now, and go google her and watch her be absolutely hilarious and brilliant.

Now let’s talk about the brand new limited edition “Oh Honey” collection by my girl Ms. Trixie Mattel. First of all, the packaging is so adorable and screams Barbie doll and Trixie Mattel. It’s called “Oh Honey” as almost an inside joke that she says in her shows as well as her t.v and youtube show that she did with fellow draq queen and friend, Katya. Trixie loves Barbie, hence her last name being Mattel, and uses Barbie and the whole concept of Barbie as a huge reference and inspiration. Trixie is also extremely intelligent and knows the whole history of the Barbie doll. The eye shadow palette is a six pan palette that consists of three matte shadows, two frosted shadows, and one metallic shadow. They are all beautiful and they look beautiful on, even the frosted shadows which  I’m usually very picky about. The eyeshadows are in the natural range so they are easy to wear on an every day basis. All the makeup names are in one way or another reference to Trixie or they have been mentioned in her acts or shows.  Here are the names and descriptions of the eye shadows:

Oh Honey – (frosted shade) Pale Honey

Sidesaddle – (matte shade) Rich Camel color

Ponyboy – (matte shade) Deep Chocolate color

Dolly – (frosted) Champagne Pink color

All Star – (metallic shade) Duo-chrome Rose Gold color

Romy – (matte shade) Cinnamon Brown Color, (which by the way is the color of Romy White’s chunky lowlights from “Romy and Michelle’s Highschool Reunion, which was filmed at my high school. Just a little fun fact.)

The “Oh Honey” palette also comes with it’s own blush which is the first blush from Sugarpill Cosmetics. It’s called, “Life Size” which is appropriate because the pan is very large and is a beautiful matte watermelon color which I’ve been wearing almost every day. The long lasting liquid lipstick that comes with the “Oh Honey” makeup is called, “Barbara” which has the scent of a honey-suckle and is Barbie pink with rose-gold sparkles in Sugarpill’s famous matte to sparkle liquid lipstick formula that sparkles more the longer you wear it.

The minute I heard Trixie Mattel was coming out with her own collection, I shrieked with joy. Before Trixie became a drag queen, he was Brian Michael Firkus a talented makeup artist, so he knows a lot about makeup, how to apply it, and can create different looks. He’s very talented in many ways. I definitely recommend checking out this palette, not just because it’s Trixie’s or it’s from Sugarpill Cosmetics, but because it’s also colors that you can wear every day, even if you’re not a “makeup person” or super adventurous when it comes to makeup. The shadows are also easily blendable. The blush is the perfect shade and the lipstick is so beautiful. Remember this collection is limited edition and if it’s sold out still, place your order with them as soon as possible so you’ll be the first one to get it, when it’s back in stock.

  1. Cool palette. Am I ever a make-up junkie. I thought I was reformed, but no. I love make-up too much! That’s cool that they filmed Romy and Michelle at your HS. They filmed Peggy Sue Got Married at Santa Rosa HS (about 100 yrs ago, but it’s still cool! LOL!) 🙂

    1. Really? That’s so cool. I wish you and I lived closer Yeah the flashback scene of the highschool wear you seem in their 80s stuff was my school lol. They film a lot of stuff from classic movies especially teen movies from the 80s and 90s near me and wear I grew up. I know what you mean Makeup. I’ve been so good not buying new stuff but I love Trixie too much that I had to. Haha. You would like the colors. It’s not overpriced which is nice for everything you get. 😊💖💖💖
