Because I wrote that short but harsh recent article,“Major Beauty Misses!”

I decided to do a tips and tricks post on how to keep you foundation from oxidation. I already provided two previous tips in my “Major Beauty Misses” article, don’t buy those two products.

1. USE A PRIMER– This should be a no brainer because almost everyone uses primers now a days.

A primer will create a barrier between your skin and the foundation, which should help prevent it from reacting with your natural oils which stops oxidation.

If you have combination skin, consider using an oil-controlling primer on your T-zone and a hydrating primer on the rest of your face.

Speaking of Primers,  here are some good things to remember when buying and using primers depending on what you skin you have:

A Mattifying Primer would be great for your T-zone, with a Nourishing Primer on dry areas on you face.

2. Blot your SkinAfter you apply your primer, take a half-ply of clean tissue and use it to blot your face. Do this again after applying your foundation—it will remove any excess oils and moisture to help the foundation colour to stay true.

3. Go Oil-Free- You will most likely have luck switching to an oil-free formula foundation, as fewer oils might mean less chance of an oxidative reaction on your skin.

4. Balancing Your ph Level- Depending on your skin care routine, the products you may use, exfoliators, moisturizers, or depending on your skin type if it’s dry, or oily, your ph level may be off.

HERE’S A GREAT TIP ON HOW TO RE- BALANCE YOUR PH LEVEL:

An idea for your skincare routine is apple cider vinegar as a toner. Since oxidation can be triggered by skin with an acidic pH level, you could try balancing it with the ACV.  According to Dr. Karen Hammerman, a New York dermatologist, “Skin is naturally acidic but when vinegar is used as a toner, it helps skin find the ideal balance between dry and oily.) Make sure to dilute it, though—say, one part vinegar to two parts water—and apply with a cotton pad.

HOPE THESE TIPS AND TRICKS WORK ON HELPING YOUR SKIN AND TO KEEP YOUR FOUNDATION FROM OXIDIZING.
