Hello everyone. I’m so excited to announce my second time being published in Sex Kitten Pinup Magazine. Although this issue was mostly summer based, it came out later than expected because of important issues but I am so happy with this issue. Issue #3 is very special to me, because not only were my photos published but I was specially asked to write an article called, “What Pinup Means to Me” which was also published. Good Morning Everyone! This morning I’m enjoying my caramel macchiato in one of my yellow sugar skull mugs that my mommy bought me in a set years ago. She always knows what her daughter likes. Today’s topic I want to briefly talk about is KINDLE VS. ACTUAL BOOKS AND BOOK STORES!
I get a rush when I walk into a bookstore. In my most recent trip to San Francisco, I saw a lot of my little book shops that I would frequent all the time such as the famous, “CITY LIGHTS” bookstore which was one of the most famous beatnik places to go and is still amazing. I also saw another one of my book shops, “BOOKSMITH,” which was awesome. Where I live now, there aren’t too many small book shops around and I need to find some more but I do love Barnes and Noble! There is always something that gives me comfort to when I walk in there, even if I’m not necessarily looking to purchase anything. Barnes and Nobles sell Kindles there which I know a lot of people like and enjoy but I do not own one.
Don’t get me wrong, I have NOTHING against KINDLES or people owning them. In fact, three of my books that I illustrated for with author and friend Robert Ropars are available on Amazon Kindle which is very cool. Our novels by the way are on there if you are interested which I’ll post below. Oh and the published me on these three novels because I had used my maiden name at the time. Now my recent works are all Carlie Sorat.
I really do get a rush for going into book shops and also looking through my own book collection. I have my style and vintage books of course, horror novels, like “Lost Souls” by Poppy Z. Brite, who I’ve met, first edition copies of “Alice in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” my HUGE FULL “CREMASTER CYCLE” book from artist Matthew Barney, and a lot more.
I understand why people like Kindle so much because it can be cheaper when purchasing an online novel, easier to take when traveling, and you don’t need a large book shelf, but I still love my paper backs and hard covers, and my coffee table books, etc. Even when I’m traveling, I like to throw a book into my bag.

This is something that I wanted to quickly talk about. I’ve mentioned this briefly before in the past videos that I’ve done but had never really gotten into it. This is just an observation I’ve had for awhile when it comes to the craziness with social media and the beauty world.
Nowadays online, especially on youtube, I’ve noticed that many people get so wrapped up in the bullshit and drama in the makeup and beauty industry. It seems that they love to complain or get in a tizzy over things that really aren’t important or they harp on something that happened over a decade ago.
Because social media is so big in today’s society, the drama is more prevalent. That’s why there are so many drama channels out there, a lot of which don’t know or speak of actual facts and just create false facts and bullshit. I admit that I watch some drama channels and have befriended a few of the creators, but the ones that I pay attention to have actual truth behind them and sources to back them up. They don’t make up stories or lie just to hurt others or try to bring them down.
I believe when people say or make videos about lies about makeup gurus, especially when they are successful and huge makeup gurus, I think a lot it stems from jealousy. There are a lot of people who don’t want others to be successful. It’s like that old saying, “Misery loves Company.” It’s so unnecessary and instead of wasting your energy in putting people down, you should use your energy for positive things, like helping people or making someone smile.
Why should there by any unnecessary negative feedback about beauty or makeup? Especially when there are so many serious things in the world. IT’S MAKEUP FOR GOD’S SAKE! Makeup is supposed to be fun and a platform for people to be artistic and to show off their creativity. You shouldn’t have to worry about being criticized or judged for liking certain makeup brands or creators.
I don’t want to get into, believe, or follow the drama. I’ll just be on the side playing with my makeup and being my creative self.

Here are some new TIPS and TRICKS for SKIN CARE. Some of these may sound logical and some of these may be new tips that maybe you haven’t thought about before. I hope these help for you. Enjoy!
1. If you have oily skin, apply your favorite moisturizer to ONLY the super dry areas! There’s no need to slather your moisturizer all over, UNLESS your WHOLE face is super dry.
2. I think I’ve said this before in past blog posts but definitely use a PURIFICATION MASK once a week.
3. I believe I mentioned this briefly in a blog vid long time ago but after washing your face at night, use a toner to get rid of any gunk, impurities, or any excess makeup that your face wash didn’t catch.
4. Buy blotting sheets, there aren’t usually super expensive and I’m found the cheapest ones and one of the best ones are in CVS. If your skin tends to be oily throughout the day or your makeup is starting to sweat off you, blotting sheets are your best friends instead of caking on more powder which can clog pores causing breakouts and can be unhygienic.
5. I’ve talked about this in the past and might do a demo on this, but you must clean you beauty blenders at least once a week. Same goes for brushes otherwise you are going to cause more bacteria into your skin which is gross.
6. If you use a primer that can double as a moisturizer, you don’t need to add extra moisturizer before apply your primer.
7. If you get your eyebrows waxed or threaded, exfoliate your brow area the night before because if you exfoliate after you get your brows coiffed and then exfoliate, you can a lot of redness and a possible infection.
8. Last but now least, here’s a quick way to remove your makeup in the evening or if you are rushing to an event and need to do a another makeup look, use gentle makeup wipes, like the burt’s bees cucumber remover wipes, which are my favorite, and use a gently toner to either get rid of any excess dirt or to rehydrate your face. If you want to keep your eye makeup on, just gently rehydrate a few inches away from my eyes and make sure they are closed and fan them with your hands or a pretty fan so it dries before opening your peepers!
My ritual is to cleanse my face with my soy cleanser and then use a cotton pad, or the other way around, to gently remove eye makeup, tone my face, and redo my makeup cause you all know I love my makeup and doing different looks.
But if you don’t have time for that, for instance, if you are going from work to a dinner, the makeup removing wipes are your best bet.

A few days ago I finally had my laser eye surgery that I had been wanting for awhile and I did a video to talk about my journey and the process of getting the surgery done. I did a hot Jeffree Star themed photo shoot today and it was very sexy and fun. For the shoot, I dressed up in the first piece of clothing I ever bought from Jeffree Star Cosmetics which was the sexy black vegan vest with the pink lip ammunition and star ensignia that you see here. I got so into this rock and roll themed shoot, I had to wear my hot, punk rock black and blue wig. Since my first JS clothing purchase, I have bought a bunch more. And don’t get me started on all the JS makeup I own. In today’s photoshoot, with the exceptions of my wig, bottoms and shoes, I wore nothing but Jeffree Star. I truly love all of Jeffree’s products and when it comes to the makeup, all the formulas, such as the lipstick formula is top notch. It doesn’t make your lips feel super dry like other liquid lipstick brands do and is very easy to apply.
I’m losing count on all the Jeffree Star lipsticks (liquid and the lip ammunition) I have and will be buying more soon I’m sure.
The SKIN FROST highlights are amazing too and I already know what color I want to get next.
I could go on and on about how much I love Jeffree’s products!

My super sweet and cool friend Crystal Ivy or “Camp Crystal Lake,” made this super awesome photo collage and wrote this really sweet tribute to me which she posted on Instagram, which is where I first met her. She did a few tributes to her friends but I was the first one. Crystal Ivy and I have a lot of mutual friends on I.G and a lot in common, including horror films, batman, art, and much more. Her I.G tribute had meant so much to me (and still does) when I first saw it that I wanted to definitely post it here.
When she was working on the collage and statement about me together, she asked me to tell her five random facts about myself to use in it, which I did, which you’ll also see below .
